Get Back in the Box

There ain't no rules around here! We're trying to accomplish something.

Thomas Edison

Why is it we Clevanders impose limits on our potential by our own insistance upon regulation. We look for permission before we attempt anything new. We search to see if anyone else has tried it first...only then is it okay for us to consider.

We parrot the corporate cliche "Think outside the box", yet when somebody attemps to climb out of that "box", there are more than a few members of this community shoving them back in. Those people with new ideas are very disturbing to the status quo. They introduce the unfamiliar, the unusual, the uncomfortable.

You are awesome! I'm a high school teacher in Euclid, and I've also been keeping a blog about my experiences. We currently are under a grant from Bill Gates to restructure our school into small learning communities so I wanted to document our transition. I figured things would be interesting and crazy. I was right. However, I became discouraged when I was only writing for an audience of one so I deleted my blog! But after reading the article in the PD about you I became inspired. So
I've been faithful ever since and my blog is up and running! Just so you know, I look forward to reading your blog everyday, and I even spent the rest of my spring break catching up and digging into your archives. It's comforting to know that there is someone else out there who is passionate and tries to stay positive teaching under often challenging circumstances. Thank you thank you!
